Additional Recommendations:
ReplyDelete-Professional evaluations should be completed by at least two supervisors who have observed a teacher during the year (Principal, Assistant Principal, Dean of Faculty, Department Chair);
-faculty must be given feedback from their evaluations
-establish procedures for the observer: conduct a pre-observation discussion and a post-observation conference. During the conference the teacher and administrator discuss strengths, areas needing strengthening, and together they consider strategies to improve based upon the criteria in the evaluation.
-Link the evaluation to professional growth goals so that teachers see a direct relationship between the evaluation and their professional development.
-when everyone is evaluated using the same system, school leaders are able to identify variations in performance among the teachers because everyone is speaking the same language.
-the process of observation and evaluation provides teachers with validation and reinforcement, identifies areas for improvement and offers an opportunity for re-direction where necessary.
